KEEPING OUR YOUTH
DRUG & ALCOHOL FREE
Here at South Lyon Community Coalition, SLCC, we believe in the saying "it takes a village." Working collaboratively with other community coalitions, local police, businesses, community leaders, residents and the S. Lyon school district we are determined to make a a positive impact on our youth. The core of our efforts is to bring programs that help our youth make healthy life choices that prevent drug and alcohol use.
What SLCC brings to the community is opportunities to educate, promote and instill.
appropriate substance education for elementary, middle and high schools
substance education for parents
positive social norms
alcohol and tobacco education to retailers to ensure have appropriate signage legal restrictions on selling
safe and accessible ways to dispose of unused prescription drugs
community training in Narcan administration to prevent overdose deaths
law enforcement and court partnerships to discourage youth use of substances
mental health care resources and good mental health habits for youth
Collaboration with Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities (ACHC) and its 20 Oakland County coalitions to continuously provide programs to enrich the community
The coalition and its members serve the South Lyon Community School District and residents of Lyon Township, New Hudson and South Lyon.
From substance availability to peer pressure being a teen in today's world can be overwhelming. Together with the support of our programs and resources SLCC encourages kids to chose a healthy path by making healthy decisions whether that be discouraging drug and alcohol use or other negative lifestyles.
